Let’s Amplify Patterson Park!

It’s time to Amplify Patterson Park! The park has been so important to neighbors as a place to exercise, find peace, and socialize since it was established 80 years ago.

Friends of Patterson Park works to make it an even more welcoming place for all our East Austin neighbors by hosting community events like our annual easter egg hunt, national night out picnic and luminarias. We also plan park improvement projects, and have been proud to bring new playground equipment, benches, baskets and backboards, and more to neighborhood park.

Our 2023 Amplify Austin Day goal is to raise $7,000 in 2023 so that we can continue making improvements to our park and bringing our community together. We want Patterson Park to be where all our neighbors are welcome to play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.

Friends of Patterson Park raises 246% of Amplify Austin Goal

CONGRATULATIONS!  Because of your generous donations, Friends of Patterson Park raised $7,425 during Amplify Austin. Thank you so much for your tremendous support and generosity during Amplify Austin Day 2021! We set a modest goal and blew past it. 

It’s been a hard year for so many, and we’ve come to depend on our public parks like never before. Together, the Friends of Patterson Park can bring updates and new amenities to our 80 year old neighborhood park so that people from around East Austin and the city can get the most out of this treasured green space.  We are truly grateful for your support and can’t wait to gather in person to celebrate with our park community this fall.   

We could not have done this without each and every single one of you!

We were deep in winter just two weeks ago, but spring is around the corner and AMPLIFY AUSTIN is March 4-5! There are 675+ local organizations participating in the 24 hour fundraiser, and Friends of Patterson Park is working with Austin Parks Foundation to raise money for our neighborhood park. The past year has made our city’s green spaces even more important – they’ve been key to our physical and mental health. You can help make Patterson into an even more welcoming destination for our East Austin neighbors to play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.

Our goal this year is to continue work repairing and adding to our athletic facilities. This winter we were awarded a $5,000 Austin City Limits Community Grant by APF to replace the damaged backstop at the baseball field, and work started this week! We will use funds raised during last year’s Amplify campaign to make a matching contribution toward the installation. We hope to complete the athletic facilities project with a grant from the Neighborhood Partnering Program, and this year’s Amplify funds will allow us to provide the required match. 

We are so grateful for the continued support of neighborhood businesses! Nature’s Treasures, Franklin Barbecue, and Jade Construction, have already made substantial pledges. On top of that, Austin Parks Foundation has secured a 100% match for Amplify Austin donations to parks by Central National Bank, so your dollars will stretch even farther. Help us reach our goal of raising $3,000!

FOPP Raises $14,940 during Amplify Austin 2020

A team of Friends of Patterson Park worked together during the 2020 Amplify Austin campaign, and raised a total of $7,470. We had 65+ individual donors and sponsorships from seven neighborhood businesses and organizations. To top it all off, the Austin Parks Foundation generously matched our total raised 100%, so that we bringing home $14,940 to put toward future park improvement projects and community building events! We are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude at the outpouring of support!

WOW! Thanks to support from our neighbors and community sponsors, we have already raised over 90% of our $5,000 Amplify Patterson goal! Let’s see if we can make our stretch goal of $7,000 by 6 p.m., when  Amplify Austin Day wraps up.

I love Patterson kids Amplify ATX

Amplify Austin starts in one week! This 24 hour fundraiser showers TLC on more than 700 amazing organizations working in Central Texas. Will you make a pledge to amplify our neighborhood park? You can help Friends of Patterson Park make it into an even more welcoming destination for East Austin neighbors to play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.

Make Your Impact During Amplify Patterson

Friends of Patterson Park has been caring for our neighborhood park since 2002, and we have big plans for 2020! Our Amplify goal is to raise $5,000 so that we can continue making improvements to our park and supporting community events that bring neighbors together.

In 2019 we hosted eight community events, including a Pride Picnic, Easter Egg Hunt, and a celebration of that year’s playground expansion and park improvements. We also partnered with the Austin Parks Foundation on two volunteer work days to mulch our heritage oak trees and plant new trees.

Our goals for this year are to repair and add to our athletic facilities, and to keep strengthening community connections. This year, the Austin Parks Foundation has generously offered to a 100% match of the total funds we raise, so your support will go even further.  Schedule your Amplify Austin donation today!

Happy New Year Friends of Patterson Park! It’s been a sleepy winter at the park but things are about to go into hyperdrive for spring.
 
NEWS
* An annual report on our 2019 activities is coming soon. Highlights of the year include 100K in grant funded improvement projects, 350 volunteer hours mulching and planting trees, and 8 community events that brought 600+ neighbors to the park.
*  Amplify Austin is coming up March 4-5, and this year the Austin Park Foundation has generously offered a 100% match  of everything that we raise. We’d love your support to keep up our work in 2020!

Friday, February 14 
Love at the Park
9:30-11:30 a.m.
Join us for our annual celebration of friendship and community at the pavilion. Maplewood is closed for the day, so we’ll be meeting in the morning for brunch, treats, and Valentine’s crafts at the pavilion.
Tuesday, February 25 
Mardi Gras Celebration
5-6:30 p.m.
Let’s celebrate Mardi Gras with a potluck, king cake, and music! There will be masks to decorate and beads to share. 
Wednesday, March 4
Amplify Patterson Kickoff Ice Cream Party
4-6 p.m.
We’ll launch our 24 hour fundraising campaign with a sugar rush at the playground.
Saturday, March 7
It’s My Park Day
9 a.m.-12 noon
This is an opportunity for the folks of all ages to volunteer and help care for our park’s wonderful trees. We will have coffee, tacos and fruit to keep volunteers going. Amplify Austin is a community-wide day of online giving to our city’s nonprofit organizations. It starts February 28 at 6:00 p.m. and ends March 1 at 6:00 p.m. Join us for an ice cream party at the pavilion Friday 4–6p.m. to wrap up our campaign! 🍦

Your donations will be matched 100% by our generous neighborhood business sponsors, and the Austin Parks Foundation will provide an additional 25% match of the first $2500.

Friends of Patterson Park Raises $5,705 During Amplify Austin

A team of Friends of Patterson Park worked together during Amplify Austin, and raised a total of $5,705. We brought together six business sponsors to provide matching funds, five individual fundraisers, a match from Austin Parks Foundation, and neighbors and friends who supported our campaign.  We are filled with joy and gratitude at the generous outpouring of support!

Business Sponsors

Nature’s Treasures, Erin Tassoulas Design + Build, Nicole Cooper -NBC Realty, Thunderbird Coffee, Urban Patchwork and Franklin Barbecue each provided matching funds to the first $1,750 donated. Nature’s Treasures provided $500 in matching funds, and the other neighborhood-based businesses $250.

Individual fundraisers

Cynthia Soliz, Jane O’Brien, Kate West and Susan Potter, park lovers who live in Mueller, and Wilshire Wood,  and Cherrywood each had individual fundraising campaigns, as did the Cap City Cobra baseball team, which practices at the park.

Austin Parks Foundation

Our fiscal sponsor APF generously matched 25% of the first $2,500 raised. This totals $625, making the final amount raised $5,705.

What’s next?

We have a lot planned for the next few weeks! Next Saturday, March 10, we will be planting a new grove of trees at the park, and our annual Easter egg hunt is planned for March 31. We also plan to submit an application in April for funding to for the first part of our Neighborhood Park Plan, new circular monkey bars and seating at the playground.
