Park Plan Continues to Move Forward

Both the Cherrywood and Schieffer-Willowbrook Neighborhood Associations voted unanimously to approve the Patterson Neighborhood Park Plan in November! The Mueller and Delwood 2 Neighborhood Associations previously approved the plan, and and the last association to review it will be Wilshire Wood/Delwood 1. They will hold their next meeting in the next few weeks, and after that the plan moves to the Department of Parks and Recreation for formal review and adoption.

Patterson Luminarias Return December 14

Join neighbors for a magical walk around Patterson Park to celebrate the holiday season and enjoy hot chocolate at the pavilion. Friends of Patterson Park will host the 3rd annual Patterson Luminarias on Thursday, December 14, 6-8 p.m. Cookies are welcome if you are inspired to share, as is help setting up starting at 5pm. The more hands on deck, the more (battery-powered) luminarias we can light. We love celebrating the holidays with neighbors and are thrilled to continue the luminaria tradition!

Another Fantastic It’s My Park Day at Patterson

By Robin Graham-Moore

The first Saturday in November found a group of more than 40 friends and neighbors in Patterson Park looking at an impressive mountain of steaming mulch. Fueled by Mi Madre’s breakfast tacos, Thunderbird coffee, and drinks and pastries brought by generous neighbors, the group grabbed tools and attacked the huge pile.

Three hours later found the pile gone and a bunch of exhausted, but exhilarated people looking with pride at over 40 mulched trees. The event gave parents an opportunity to work side by side with their eager kids. Others came with their families to work in a park they remembered fondly from family reunions and birthday parties. A nearby business, Liaison Creative + Marketing, brought many hands to help the park they love thrive. Thanks to the Austin Parks Foundation for organizing such a magical day in our community!

Pumpkin Party 2017 by Jane O'Brien

2017 Patterson Pumpkin Party

By Jane O’Brien

On October 29th, neighbors gathered to decorate pumpkins, eat good food and celebrate fall at Patterson Park’s annual pumpkin decorating party. This year, many people even carved their pumpkins. Every pumpkin was a masterpiece, and we’re looking forward to doing the party again next year. An extra thank you goes out to Friends of Patterson Park for giving us extra pumpkins, so that no one was without a pumpkin to decorate!
